Get your Full Licence with MUMA

The final step in your driving journey is your Full Licence – the stage where you gain complete driving freedom and responsibility.

You can apply for your full licence once you’ve:

Held your restricted licence for at least 18 months (or 12 months if you’ve completed an approved defensive driving course If you are over 25 years old, you must hold your Restricted Licence for 6months or 3 months if you complete an approved defensive driving course.

Built up enough driving experience to feel confident in all conditions.

To get your full licence, you’ll need to:

  • Book and pass the full licence practical test (around 30 minutes). VTNZ undertakes Full Licence tests from our Driving School.

  • Bring your restricted licence.

You can use one of the MUMA Fleet Cars to do your Full Licence Test in.

This is a fee for sitting your Full Licence, but we may be able to cover those costs so please get in touch!

The full licence test focuses on advanced driving skills – smooth and safe decision-making, hazard detection, and your ability to anticipate and respond to risks.

Once you pass, the restrictions are lifted – no more passenger or time-of-day limits. You’ll have the legal freedom to drive anywhere, anytime, with anyone.
